Mohammed Zazi indicted for making false statementPosted: 06:16 PM ET
(CNN) - Mohammed Wali Zazi, 53, was indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury for making a false statement about his son, Najibullah, in a matter involving alleged terrorism. The elder Zazi, who lives in Aurora, Colorado, was indicted in Denver and remained free on a $50,000 unsecured bond but under electronic monitoring by the court, federal authorities said. He is to appear Friday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Denver. Najibullah Zazi, 24, is the center of the investigation into what authorities say was a major terrorist plot linked to al Qaeda. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiring with others to detonate explosives in the United States. |
