6.3-magnitude quake rocks BhutanPosted: 06:06 AM ET
By Harmeet Shah Singh NEW DELHI, India (CNN) - A 6.3-magnitude quake rocked the Asian kingdom of Bhutan on Monday, blocking roads and cracking monasteries, the country's home minister told CNN. Damage was reported in eastern Bhutan, particularly in its Mongar district, home minister Minjur Dorji said. The temblor sent boulders down on roads in remote, hilly regions, he added. At least one house collapse was reported. The quake also was felt in India's northeastern Assam state, bordering Bhutan. There were no immediate reports of damage there, however. Bhutan - a small, landlocked country located in the Himalayan mountains - is considered one of the world's most isolated countries because of the government's strict regulation of foreign influences. |
