Chileans satisfied with their sex lives, survey finds

SANTIAGO, Chile (CNN) - Neither the cold of winter nor the hardships of a sour economy have dampened amorous pursuits for Chileans, a university survey has found.

Slightly more than 80 percent of the Chileans surveyed, all living in the capital city of Santiago, said their sex lives have remained the same despite the economic recession, according to a telephone survey by a social studies institute at the Universidad Central. That's around the same frequency as noted in previous polls, the survey report said.

The poll also found that 66 percent said the cold weather in Chile, where it is winter, has not affected their intimacy.

Chileans said they have sex an average of 11.5 times a month, which amounts to two or three times a week. About 53 percent of the poll respondents said they were satisfied with that frequency, which is about 138 times a year.
