3 U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) - Three U.S. soldiers were killed when their base in Basra was attacked by indirect fire, the U.S. military said on Friday.

It happened Thursday night at the Contingency Operating Base in the southern Iraqi city, the military said. The incident is under investigation.

The names of the deceased are being withheld pending notification of next of kin, it said.
