Military announces Iraq troop rotationPosted: 01:04 PM ET
WASHINGTON (CNN) - The U.S. military will be rotating a fresh group of troops into Iraq, but there will be no increase in overall force levels, the Pentagon announced Tuesday. The Pentagon said three division headquarters and eight brigade combat teams of around 30,000 people will begin replacing redeploying units later this year. While the troop numbers will temporarily rise as troops began rotating, the change keeps the current level of troops, pending any decisions for further drawdowns. At present, there are 128,000 American troops in Iraq. |
