Navy: Sailor found dead in Virginia barrackPosted: 05:47 PM ET
From Adam Levine WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Navy is investigating the death of a sailor after the body was found Monday morning in an Arlington, Virginia, barrack, Navy officials said Monday. The body was found in the sailor's room at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall after the sailor did not show up for work Sunday night, according to Navy Cmdr. Cappy Surette. A Navy source told CNN the sailor was female. The sailor is not being publicly identified pending notification of next of kin, according to Surette. The death is being investigated by the Naval Criminal Investigation Service. Surette would not say if the death was considered suspicious. "The investigation is just beginning and details are just emerging," Surette said. Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington is a Marine and Army base near the Pentagon. It is a secure base, Surette said, meaning its collection of office buildings and barracks are not open to the public. – CNN's Barbara Starr contributed to this report. |
