Uneasy quiet after two days of attacks kill 73Posted: 06:23 AM ET
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) - There were no reported bombings in Iraq by Friday afternoon, an uneasy quiet following a two-day spate of attacks across the country that killed 73 people. In the latest attack Thursday night, nine civilians were killed and 35 were wounded in a double bombing in northern Baghdad, Interior Ministry officials said. That incident brought the death toll to 73 people and 202 were wounded in the series of attacks across Iraq Wednesday and Thursday. The deadliest attack happened when a double suicide bombing killed at least 35 people and wounded 65 others in the city of Tal Afar in Nineveh province, also in northern Iraq. Political tensions have recently increased in the region between Arabs and Kurds. |
