Kentucky mine accident hurts 8Posted: 07:44 PM ET
From Rob Frehse (CNN) - Eight people were suffered minor injuries when a transport vehicle lost its brakes inside a Kentucky coal mine Thursday, a state official said. The accident happened at the Ken American Mine in Central City, Kentucky, about 125 miles southwest of Louisville, said Buddy Rogers, of the state Division of Emergency Management. Rogers said all the injuries were minor, but a woman who answered the phone at the Muhlenberg County Hospital emergency room told CNN that three patients who were being X-rayed and given CAT scans Thursday evening. No further information was available on the condition or location of the other patients. Local police and fire departments responded to the scene but neither would release further details of the incident at this time. |
