Blast kills Canadian soldier in southern AfghanistanPosted: 03:55 PM ET
KABUL, Afghanistan (CNN) - A Canadian soldier was killed and five others were wounded Friday when an roadside bomb exploded near their armored vehicle in southern Afghanistan, the Canadian military said. The soldiers were on patrol in the Zhari district of Kandahar province, southwest of Kandahar city, when the device detonated late in the morning, according to the Web site of the National Defense and Canadian Forces. The fatality was identified as Cpl. Nicholas Bulger from the 3rd Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, based in Edmonton. |
