DHS head monitoring Red River floodingPosted: 04:07 PM ET
By Carol Cratty WASHINGTON (CNN) - Officials in Washington are keeping close watch on the rising water of the Red River. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said she has spoken to the governors of North Dakota and Minnesota, to the congressional delegations and to the mayor of Fargo, North Dakota, about what is happening and their emergency response needs. "Everything that can be done is being done," she said Friday before making a speech about efficiency efforts in her department. "Obviously, this is the top priority right now." The DHS secretary said President Barack Obama shares her concerns and has been fully briefed. |
