4,000 more troops set for Afghanistan, officials say

WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Barack Obama is expected to approve sending an additional 4,000 troops to Afghanistan, military officials said Thursday.

The troops, a brigade of military trainers, was requested by commanders in Afghanistan, according to the officials. An announcement is expected Friday.

The brigade would be in addition to 17,000 new troops already announced for Afghanistan.
