U.N. investigates gunfire at Israel-Syria borderPosted: 11:17 AM ET
JERUSALEM (CNN) - U.N. observers in Syria are investigating an incident on Sunday in which Israel says its forces were exposed to gunfire from the Syrian side of the border, an Israeli military spokesman told CNN. There were no casualties and the Israeli soldiers did not return fire, the spokesman said. The soldiers were working on an engineering project near Alonei Habashan - an Israeli community near the Syrian border - when they came under fire, the spokesman said. Israel complained to the U.N. Disengagement Observation Force, UNDOF, which sent a team to the area to investigate, the spokesman said. |
