CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) — A surburban Chicago lawman told CNN Wednesday
that “every indication” in the death of a prominent real estate executive “does
point toward suicide.”

Steven L. Good, 52, of Highland Park, Ill., was found dead in his Jaguar
on Monday with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, Kane County sheriff’s
department said in a statement.

The car was spotted a parking lot of a wildlife preserve in Kane County,
just outside of Chicago. But a note that would indicate a motive was not found,
the statement said.

Authorities don’t know how long Good was at the location before he was
found.

Good was chairman and chief executive officer of Sheldon Good & Co., a
major U.S. real estate auction company.

The death comes amid great turmoil in the country’s real estate industry,
and in his role as chairman of the Realtors Commercial Alliance Committee, Good
commented on tough conditions last month.

In a statement on Good’s death, Alan R. Kravets, the company’s president,
said, “it is testimony to Steve’s leadership that Sheldon Good & Company
remains well positioned for the future.”

Kane County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Lt. Pat Gengler said “every
indication does point toward suicide,” but he said that without a note, “we
really don’t have any concrete evidence if this had anything to do with his
finances.”
