Congressional leaders applaud Obama economic meetingPosted: 07:30 PM ET
WASHINGTON (CNN) - Congressional leaders from both parties were optimistic Monday after meeting with President-elect Barack Obama to discuss his package of tax cuts and spending proposals aimed at reviving the beleaguered economy. Obama met with top legislators from both parties including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-California, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, as well as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, and House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio. After the meeting McConnell said the "the atmosphere for bipartisan cooperation was sincere on all sides. We welcome the opportunity to be included in the discussion." |
