4 dead in clashes between militants, security forces

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) - Clashes between militants and security forces in northwest Pakistan Saturday night killed four people, a police officer told CNN.

The clashes in Bannu district, in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province, began around 11 p.m., when militants fired rockets on a police check point, Muhammad Alam Shanwari of the Bannu district police told CNN.

One police official was killed, and seven others were wounded, Shanwari said.
