LOS ANGELES (CNN) — One person has died in a fire that has burned more than 3,500 acres in the Angeles National Forest, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said Monday afternoon. No identity or age was available for the victim, other than he was a male adult. The man died in a makeshift wood-and-cardboard shelter and appeared to be homeless, officials said at an afternoon news conference. A dog’s body also was found. Authorities also announced they are battling a second nearby blaze, which has already burned 750 acres. Evacuations have been ordered. Both fires are being driven by strong Santa Ana winds, officials said. |
