NEW DELHI (CNN) — A stampede at Hindu temple in western India killed 30 people and injured 100 others Tuesday, state Police Chief K.S. Bains told CNN. The pathway to the temple has a sharp slope and that pathway is where the stampede took place, he said. The temple is located in the state of Rajasthan, Bains said. Television footage of the scene showed emergency officials frantically trying to aid victims in the crowded area and people carrying bodies toward ambulances. |
