1 dead in Texas as Ike approaches

(CNN) - One person died Friday after drowning in the water off the coast of Corpus Christi, Texas, as Hurricane Ike approached, authorities said.

The Nueces County Sheriff's office could not immediately provide details other than confirming the drowning.
