U.S. military holding 2 Iraqi journalistsPosted: 07:29 AM ET
BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) - Two Iraqi cameramen remain in U.S. military custody on Thursday amid a warning by a media watchdog group of "an upsurge" in the arrests of journalists working in Iraq. U.S. forces detained a cameraman employed by Baghdad TV - a Sunni station - early Thursday, after raiding his home in northern Baghdad's predominantly Sunni Adhamiya district around 2 a.m. local time, according to a Baghdad TV official. And U.S. and Iraqi forces picked up Ibrahim Jassam, a cameraman for London-based Reuters News Agency, on Monday after raiding his home in Mahmoudiya, south of Baghdad, an interior ministry official said. |
