Tropical Storm Josephine forms in eastern AtlanticPosted: 11:01 AM ET
(CNN) - Tropical Storm Josephine, the tenth named storm of the season, has formed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, the National Hurricane Center said Tuesday. Josephine, which began as a tropical depression earlier in the day, has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (65 km/h), the NHC said in its 11 a.m. ET update. It is about 125 miles (205 km) south-southwest of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands off the coast of western Africa. It is moving westward near 15 mph (24 km/h) and is expected to be near hurricane strength on Wednesday or Thursday - although the storm will still be far from landfall. |
