(CNN) — State and federal agencies along the Gulf Coast were gearing up Friday, the third anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, for Hurricane Gustav, which could present the biggest threat to the region since the 2005 storm. Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal on Friday said that as the storm begins to track westward there is “a little bit less certainty than there was yesterday” of a direct hit to New Orleans or other populated areas in the state. But he urged Louisianans to be prepared for the very real possibility of another strike. He said 19 parishes have declared states of emergency and that several coastal parishes began voluntary evacuations Friday and would begin mandatory evacuations on Saturday. |
