National Archives prepares Treaty of Paris for public displayPosted: 02:35 PM ET
From CNN's Paul Courson WASHINGTON (CNN) - A document that helped solidify the founding of the United States of America goes on rare public display next week at the National Archives, where officials held a preview Thursday for reporters. The Treaty of Paris was signed on Sept. 3, 1783– nearly 225 years ago. It formally ended hostilities between the breakaway American colonies and Britain. "The peace ended the Revolutionary War," said exhibit curator Lisa Royse. The treaty established boundaries in what had been British North America, establishing Canada and the United States. |
