DENVER, Colorado (CNN) — Suspicious letters sent to two of Sen. John McCain’s campaign offices caused the brief evacuations until authorities determined that the letters were not dangerous, police and fire officials said. The two suspicious letters were sent to McCain’s campaign office in suburban Denver, the other to an office in Manchester, New Hampshire. The Denver letter reportedly contained an unknown white powder and a threatening message. In the Denver case, a fire department spokesman told CNN that fire officials did not locate any white powder, instead finding only a small amount of an unknown substance. The substance was tested and did not test positive for any hazardous materials, the official said. |
