MIAMI, Florida (CNN) — A tornado spawned by Tropical Storm Fay that moved through Wellington, Florida, Tuesday had winds up to 115 miles an hour, the National Weather Service said two days later after assessing the damage. The tornado, which was among several that hit eastern Florida, swept through two subdivisions and several equine farms and polo grounds, forecasters said. The twister’s winds made it an EF-2 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, the NWS said, a category of tornado capable of causing considerable damage, according to the NWS Web site. |
