(CNN) — Thirteen cases of listeriosis, one of them fatal, may be associated with contaminated deli meats, and another 17 cases are under investigation, an Ontario, Canada, health official said Thursday. The government “is warning the public through standard food recall not to serve or consume specified lots of ready-to-eat deli meats because of possible contamination with the bacterium,” Dr. David Williams, the province’s acting chief medical officer of health, told reporters. Another eight cases of listeriosis have been discovered that are not linked to the strain of bacteria tied to the outbreak, Williams said. |
