Florida governor announces first death from FayPosted: 10:43 AM ET
(CNN) - One death related to Tropical Storm Fay has been confirmed, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist said Wednesday. The death occurred in Highlands County, northwest of Lake Okeechobee in the eastern part of the state. The 54-year-old victim died from carbon monoxide fumes when he tested two gasoline-powered generators in his home in anticipation of the storm, Crist told reporters, quoting the county's medical examiner. Crist said he wasn't sure when the man died, but the medical examiner received the body on Monday. The man's wife discovered his body. |
