1 shot in state Democratic officePosted: 03:26 PM ET
(CNN) - One person was shot and critically injured Wednesday at the Little Rock, Arkansas, headquarters of the state Democratic Party, police said. Authorities would not confirm the victim's identity, but the Democratic National Committee released a statement indicating it was Arkansas Democratic Party Chairman Bill Gwatney. A suspect was taken into custody, said Little Rock police Lt. Terry Hastings. That suspect was shot while being apprehended, he said, but no information was immediately available on his condition. A man walked into the downtown headquarters, near the state Capitol building, and started firing Thursday morning, Hastings said, injuring "one of the people working in the office." |
