(CNN) — Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall Tuesday morning on the Texas gulf coast just west of Louisiana, and was dumping heavy rain as it moved westward toward Houston. The storm was expected to weaken, however, as it moved over land, allowing residents to breathe a sigh of relief that it wasn’t morphing into a hurricane. Edouard was expected to stay at tropical storm strength throughout the night. The center of the storm at 7 a.m. CT (8 a.m. ET) was located about halfway between High Island and Sabine Pass in the McFaddin National Wildlife Refuge, the National Hurricane Center said in its advisory. |
