BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) — A group of Iraqi politicians has two days to review a provincial elections law recently rejected by President Jalal Talabani and Shiite Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi before issuing a final report on the measure to parliament, according to the parliamentary Web site. Iraq’s parliament speaker, Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, and his deputies referred on Saturday the law — which would set guidelines for the elections — to the Provinces and Regions Committee and the Legal Committee, as well as to representatives of blocs who are not part of these committees, the parliament’s Web site said. It was not immediately clear what the report was expected to include. |
