BROWNSVILLE, Texas (CNN) — Hundreds of thousands of people were bracing Wednesday for the arrival of Hurricane Dolly near the border between the United States and Mexico. Forecasters expect the storm to come ashore around midday Wednesday in or around Brownsville, Texas, or Matamoros, Mexico. The storm has winds of around 80 miles an hour, with gusts up to 100 miles an hour, the National Hurricane Center said. It’s a Category One hurricane — the least severe designation — but forecasters say it could dump up to 15 inches of rain, causes floods and possibly spawn tornadoes. |
