Macy's, others linked to sweatshopPosted: 08:37 PM ET
NEW YORK (CNN) - Employees worked under sweatshop conditions at a New York factory that made garments for several major retail brands, the state Department of Labor announced Wednesday. Jin Shun - which made garments for Macy's, The Gap, Banana Republic, Express, Victoria's Secret, The Limited and Coldwater Creek - underpaid about 100 employees by more than $3 million since 2005 and coached the employees to lie to investigators about their working conditions. The company provided employees with a "cheat sheet" of questions and answers they were to memorize and use for responses if they were questioned by labor investigators, Labor Commissioner M. Patricia Smith said. |
