Karadzic lawyer disputes arrest accountsPosted: 10:19 AM ET
BELGRADE, Serbia (CNN) - The lawyer for Radovan Karadzic disputed official accounts Tuesday of his client's arrest, saying the former fugitive was arrested last week and held in secret for three days before authorities announced his capture late Monday. The lawyer, Sveta Vujacic, said he will launch criminal proceedings in addition to an appeal against Karadzic's transfer to the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) at The Hague. "Nobody seems to know who arrested him and where he has been since last Friday at 21:30 hours, when he was arrested," Vujacic told reporters in the capital. Serbian war crimes prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic said Tuesday Karadzic was taken into custody Monday as he traveled on a public bus in Belgrade. |
