(CNN) — Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura says he won’t run for a U.S. Senate seat, despite hinting at making such an announcement on CNN’s “Larry King Live.” Ventura, an independent, said he decided against running, citing family reasons. But, he added, he has until 5 p.m. Tuesday to file his candidacy in Minnesota if he changes his mind. Openly critical of both Senate candidates, Ventura said he would not endorse either for the seat, nor would he endorse a presidential candidate. Ventura won a single term as governor in 1998. He beat Coleman and Hubert Humphrey III, the scion of a Minnesota Democratic dynasty, in one of the more improbable upsets in recent political history. |
