Bertha barely a hurricane, churning off BermudaPosted: 05:08 PM ET
MIAMI, Florida (CNN) - After numerous fluctuations in intensity, Hurricane Bertha was again clinging to hurricane status as it remained nearly stationary off the coast of Bermuda on Saturday, poised to deal a glancing blow to the Atlantic island, the National Hurricane Center said. As of 5 p.m. ET, the center of Bertha was located about 210 miles (340 km) southeast of Bermuda. Its maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 75 mph, barely Category 1 hurricane strength, with higher gusts. A tropical storm warning, meaning tropical storm conditions including winds of at least 39 mph are expected within 24 hours, remained in effect for Bermuda. |
