Rescued American contractors to speak publicly

Posted: 06:33 PM ET

(CNN) - The three American contractors who were held prisoner for more than five years by Colombian rebels will speak publicly for the first time since their rescue last week, the U.S. military said Sunday.

Marc Gonsalves, Thomas Howes and Keith Stansell - Northrop Grumman contractors who were kidnapped when their plane crashed in the Colombian jungle in February 2003 - will make statements Monday "either on their own or through a designated family member" at 3 p.m. (4 p.m. ET) at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, the military said in a statement.

"At their own request, they will not be taking any questions from the media," the statement said.

Since Wednesday night, the contractors have been kept away from the news media while they underwent a reintegration process that included medical tests. Monday's "yellow-ribbon ceremony" is intended to mark completion of the process.
