(CNN) — The official toll from last weekend’s typhoon in the Philippines has risen to more than 500 people killed and the could go much higher, according to the latest figures from the country’s National Disaster Coordinating Council. More than 900 people are still listed as missing, including 669 ferry passengers and crew who have not been accounted for. The massive Princess of the Stars capsized late Saturday as a result of Typhoon Fengshen, or “Frank.” Of the 849 passengers and crew, 124 are confirmed dead and 56 have been found alive, the NDCC said. |
