WASHINGTON (CNN) — Federal agents in North Carolina Tuesday arrested 26 alleged members of a violent MS-13 gang, as Salvadoran authorities carried out related raids on MS-13 leaders in El Salvador, federal law enforcement sources said. Attorney General Michael Mukasey and senior FBI and Salvadoran law enforcement officals are traveling to Charlotte to announce results of the operations at a joint press conference. Federal law enforcement sources said the arrests stem from a 55-count indictment which was returned by a grand jury in Charlotte. The charges include a wide range of violent activities including drug and weapons violations by the alleged gang members.
