U.S. soldier, Marine killed in Iraq

BAGHDAD (CNN) - A U.S. soldier was killed Thursday when an improvised explosive device detonated, striking the soldier's vehicle, the military said in a statement.

The incident occurred about 3:30 p.m. in west Baghdad, the military said. The soldier was assigned to Multi-National Division – Baghdad.

Also, a U.S. Marine died in a "non-combat related incident" on Wednesday, the military said Thursday. The Marine was assigned to Multi-National Force – West. The incident was under investigation, the military said.
