Israeli conducts airstrikes and sends forces into Gaza briefly

JERUSALEM (CNN) - The Israeli military conducted two airstrikes in northern Gaza on Friday, according to Israeli and Palestinian sources.

Both sides said Israeli ground forces crossed into Gaza, as well.

The Israelis said their soldiers shot an armed militant and that an Israeli soldier was moderately wounded in the incursion. The Palestinians said a Hamas militant was killed by the Israelis.

The incursion into southern Gaza came a day after rockets fired by militants into Israel killed one person and injured four others in Nir Oz kibbutz.
