LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) - Universal Studios will open on time
Sunday, a park executive said, despite massive early morning blaze at the
southern California amusement park.

More than 300 Los Angeles-area firefighters are battling the fire in a
backlot of Universal Studios, which is adjacent to the theme park. The theme
park is scheduled to open at 9 a.m. local time (noon ET).

The blaze continued to rage almost three hours after it was reported,
fire authorities said.
