(CNN) - Americans are spending an average of $3.975 for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline - a 35 cent increase since last month - motorist group AAA reported Sunday. It marks the 25th straight record high, according to AAA data. A dozen states plus Washington, D.C., are already paying an average of over $4 for regular unleaded, AAA reported. They are Alaska, California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and West Virginia.
