Evacuations ordered as Chinese engineers prepare to dynamite earthquake-created damPosted: 01:05 AM ET
BEIJING, China (CNN) - Authorities were evacuating thousands of people in southwestern China's Sichuan province Tuesday as engineers prepared to blast a potentially dangerous lake created by landslides from this month's earthquake. "Around 100,000 (people) would be evacuated to ensure the safety according to the current drainage plan," said Liu Ning with the Ministry of Water Resources, China's Xinhua news agency reported. "It's better for them to complain about the trouble that the evacuation would bring than to shed tears after the possible danger." |
