(CNN) — Along U.S. Highway 50 in northwest West Virginia is a hillside of white crosses representing the anger of John Rost — and some of his friends — at the Iraq War.

There are 4,073 crosses — the number of U.S. troops dead as of two weeks ago, he said. The toll is painted on a large sign with the message “Cost of War.”  The crosses cover about an acre, and can be seen from the road, even at night when the area is lit.

“I guess that my deal is that we did not have any right to go into Iraq. If we went after the people who took the Twin Towers down, we would have went after Saudi Arabia,” he said, referring to the fact that most of the suicide hijackers were Saudis in the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks.

“The crosses represent our dead,” Rost added. “They have paid the ultimate price.
