Tornadoes strike northern Oklahoma, kill 2 in KansasPosted: 04:53 PM ET
(CNN) - Tornadoes formed Saturday over northern Oklahoma, skipping across the rural landscape and vaporizing a hog farm about an hour northwest of Oklahoma City, but causing no immediate reports of injuries, officials said. First, shingles skittered off the roof of the farm, then the roof itself peeled away like the top of a sardine can and filled the air with debris, live video of the storm showed. As the eye of the tornado drilled a path through the farm, trees were torn from the ground, their limbs launched hundreds of feet aloft. Area hospitals said they had received no immediate reports of injuries. "We're just kinda sitting by and waiting," said Kim Metcalf, house supervisor at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center, 15 miles north of the storm. But Kansans were not so lucky. Two people were found dead east of Pratt in south central Kansas on Saturday in a car accident caused by a tornado, the Pratt County Sheriff's Office told CNN. |
