(CNN) — Myanmar’s government is acknowledging foreign aid but seems unaware of the scope of the disaster a week and a half after a devastating cyclone hit the south Asian country, a U.S. military commander said Tuesday.Admiral Timothy Keating, the commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, has been holding talks with Myanmar’s leadership since he arrived there Monday on the first U.S. aid flight. Two more U.S. military cargo planes flew into the country Tuesday to deliver relief supplies. Keating’s conversations with the ruling junta were cordial, he said, but resulted in no firm decisions about U.S. offers of more assistance for the country, which is also known as Burma. |
