(CNN) — Firefighters have made some progress Monday in battling one of four weekend wildfires that has scorched two eastern Florida counties, authorities said. A blaze in Volusia County that has burned through 600 to 1,000 acres was about 20 percent contained, according to Fred Godawa of the Daytona Beach Fire Department. About 590 homes in the area near LPGA Boulevard have been evacuated and about 85 homes are on standby to be ready to evacuate, Godawa said. There was no immediate word on the other three brush fires that burned in areas of Brevard County. |
