PICHER, Oklahoma (CNN) - A powerful storm that killed 21 people in the Midwest continued into the South on Sunday, killing onein Georgia and destroying a small town.

An official surveying the damage in the Midwest Sunday said it looked like a “war zone.”

President Bush pledged federal support. Speaking briefly to reporters in Waco, Texas, he said, “Mother’s Day is a sad day for those who lost their lives in Oklahoma, Missouri and Georgia because of the tornadoes.”

He added, “We send our prayers for those who lost their lives. The federal government will be moving hard to help.”
