U.S. soldier killed in northern Iraq

BAGHDAD (CNN) - A U.S. soldier in northern Iraq was killed Tuesday "in an insurgent attack against the soldier's patrol," the U.S. military said. The soldier was with Multi-National Division-North. Another soldier was wounded in the attack, it said.

The number of U.S. troops killed this month in Iraq stands at seven and the number of U.S. service members killed in the war is 4,072.
