(CNN) — Authorities at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton instituted a campus lockdown early Wednesday, following an outbreak of gunfire at a school dormitory.

Police are looking for a male suspect after shots were fired around 1:15 a.m. at University Village Apartments, said FAU Deputy Police Chief Keith Totten.

“The suspect — at this time — we have been unable to locate,” Totten said. “Due to that, we activated the emergency notification systems on campus … and closed all the campus entries.”

The incident resulted in minor injuries, but the cause was not immediately clear, Totten said. No one was taken to the hospital for treatment.
