Law firm reaches settlement with 21 families of Virginia Tech victimsPosted: 02:42 PM ET
(CNN) - A law firm representing families of 21 victims of last year's Virginia Tech shootings said Thursday it had reached an $11 million settlement with the state of Virginia. Attorney Peter Grenier told CNN that the Washington-based law firm Bode and Grenier represents - among others - relatives of Matthew Gwaltney, Caitlin Hammaren, Juan Ortiz, Reema Samaha, Nicole White, Brian Bluhm and Michael Pohle. Those seven Virginia Tech students were among the 32 people whom Seung-Hui Cho shot and killed before turning a gun on himself on the Blacksburg, Virginia, campus. Seventeen other people were wounded in the April 16, 2007, shooting spree, which was one of the deadliest shooting rampages in U.S. history. Grenier would not disclose the identities of the other 14 families. –From CNN's Brianna Keilar |
